Job Requisition: JR100672 Adjunct Professor, Online Masters of Legal Studies (MLS) (Open) Job Posting Title: Adjunct Professor, Online Masters of Legal Studies (MLS) Job Family: Faculty - Adjunct Number Of Openings: 12 Job Requisition Primary Location: Remote Work - Virginia Primary Job Posting Location: Remote Work - Virginia Job Description Summary: The William & Mary Law School is recruiting a pool of adjunct faculty to teach one or more courses within the online Master of Legal Studies (M.L.S.) program. Job Description: Adjunct faculty serve a vital role within the Law School and are valued members of the community. Under the guidance of the Assistant Dean for Academic and Faculty Affairs, adjunct faculty design and teach courses, facilitate course activities, provide students with timely feedback, and grade assignments and exams. Adjunct faculty are provided with professional learning opportunities and are invited to attend on-campus events. Job duties and functions assigned to this position: Prepare the syllabus and, with the support of Instructional Designers, update the relevant course modules as needed. Use the learning management system (Blackboard). Work within William & Mary-specific online policies and procedures. Review course content, activities, and assignments prior to the term’s start date. Meet all designated course instruction guidelines. Provide students with timely and specific feedback. Grade assignments and exams in a timely manner and no later than by the deadline set by the law school. Respond to student inquiries within 24 hours. Offer weekly office hours for individual or group consultation. Submit final grades according to William & Mary policy and the individual program calendars. Submit end-of-semester feedback and reflection form. Maintain frequent and open communication with William & Mary faculty and staff through email, telephone, and any other medium deemed appropriate.

Required Qualifications

Please make sure your cover letter and CV or resume clearly indicate how you meet the following required qualifications: Master’s degree, Juris Doctor or equivalent, or other graduate degree directly related to the discipline from an accredited college or university. Expertise and relevant professional and/or instructional experience in general law education, compliance law, finance law, environmental law, healthcare law, or technology law (including AI and privacy). Previous experience providing instruction to adult learners in an academic or corporate setting. Demonstrated communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Demonstrated excellence in teaching. Previous teaching experience at the graduate level. Computer proficiency and experience using Blackboard or other online learning platforms. Conditions of Employment This is a part-time position paid semi-monthly over the term of the course. This position is not benefit-eligible. This position is restricted to a specified term.
