Company Overview Our client provides outsourced finance operations and advisory for founders, CEOs, and CFOs. They support clients with services like bookkeeping, reporting, forecasting, and tax/compliance β helping leaders run their businesses with clearer numbers and stronger execution. The team is lean and distributed, with HQ in Austin, TX. The company is early-stage and focused on building repeatable execution as client volume grows. This role exists to bring structure, clarity, and operational leverage. Your Role Weβre hiring an Operations Manager to professionalize and scale internal operations across service delivery, team execution, and client workflows. This is a high-ownership generalist role. Youβll build processes, create operating rhythms, and keep execution moving β but youβll also jump into whatever needs doing (sales, marketing, support, product, internal ops). The clientβs words: you should be willing to βmop the floor.β Accounting experience is not required. If you have it, great β but the priority is operational leadership, systems thinking, and the ability to drive outcomes in ambiguous environments. The clientβs top preference Theyβd love to hire someone who has been a founder (or early operator) at a previous unicorn startup β someone who has lived through real scale and can build systems fast. Youβll: Build an operating picture of βhow work flows todayβ (people, tools, handoffs, bottlenecks) Implement a lightweight operating rhythm (weekly priorities, check-ins, escalation paths, follow-up) Standardize delivery workflows across core services (intake β execution β review β client delivery) Create and maintain SOPs, checklists, and templates that reduce errors and rework Improve client onboarding and recurring touchpoints so delivery is predictable and proactive Set up tracking/dashboards so leadership can answer βwhere are we on X?β quickly Partner closely with leadership and functional leads to prioritize, unblock, and drive execution Step into cross-functional needs as required (sales support, marketing ops, customer support processes, product/ops coordination) You Bring: Founder / early operator experience in a high-growth startup environment (unicorn experience strongly preferred) Demonstrated ability to operate across functions (sales, marketing, support, product, ops) β and willingness to do unglamorous work when needed Strong process and project management skills (SOPs, checklists, operating rhythms, dashboards) AI proficiency: comfortable using AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT/Claude/Copilot) to draft, summarize, analyze, and automate routine work Excellent written and spoken English (clear async communication) High ownership + low ego: you follow through, you fix whatβs broken, and you donβt wait to be asked Strong judgment and ability to prioritize under deadlines Bonus Points: Experience in finance/accounting/tax operations (helpful, not required) Experience supporting distributed teams across time zones Comfort with tools like Notion, Google Workspace, Slack, Asana/Jira, or similar systems Whatβs Offered: Remote role with US Central Time overlap required Competitive USD compensation (based on experience) High-autonomy, high-impact position with direct partnership with the Founder / Managing Director Interview Process 1οΈβ£ Recruiter / intro screen β background, motivation, communication 2οΈβ£ Hiring manager interview β examples of systems youβve built + how you run execution 3οΈβ£ Practical exercise β design a 30-day operating plan + tracker for a services team 4οΈβ£ Final conversation β leadership alignment and expectations π΄ Important Note This role is built for a hands-on operator.
