[Remote] Database Administrator
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Peraton is a next-generation national security company that drives missions of consequence spanning the globe. They are seeking a strong Postgres DBA/Developer to maintain and support production, testing, and development databases while ensuring optimal performance and collaboration with the development team.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the maintenance of production, testing and development databases
- Brings solid understanding of database administration
- Supports development team from a database design and development perspective
- Responsible for database administration or engineering activities, ensure optimal performance on PostgreSQL environments
- Responsible for the installation, maintenance, configuration, and integrity of PostgreSQL architecture
- Performance tuning of the queries
- Provide support to the application developers, including, but not limited to data refresh, SQL, MySQL and PL/pgSQL performance tuning and best practice recommendations
- Conduct code reviews with application developers
- Ensure the long-term requirements of systems operations and administration are included in the organization's overall database systems planning
- Perform many related database functions across one or more teams, including designing, implementing, and maintaining new databases, backup/recovery, and configuration management
Skills
- Minimum of 8 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 6 years with MS/MA; Minimum of 3 years with PhD
- Strong MySQL, PL/PGSQL or PL/SQL experience is a plus
- Performance turning of the queries
- Experience in AWS RDS Aurora PostgreSQL
- Experience in Complex and high-volume data warehouse projects
- Hands-on experience with Postgres database administration, performance tuning and production support in a high volume, customer-facing apps/environment
- Data Modeling Experience in ErWin
- Experience working in Agile/ Scrum large scale programs
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Manages time extremely well, can quickly sense when an issue needs to be discussed or triaged
- Strong attention to detail and focus on task completion is critical
- Must be able to obtain a Public Trust clearance
- US citizenship or Green Card holder and been in the USA for 3 of the last 5 years
- AWS certification
