[Remote] Director of Data Engineering & Cloud Platforms
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. CodeVertex Innovations LLC is seeking a Director of Data Engineering & Cloud Platforms to lead the design, development, and optimization of scalable data infrastructure, cloud systems, and analytics platforms. The ideal candidate will manage technical architecture, build reliable data pipelines, improve data quality, and support business intelligence, reporting, automation, and AI initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of scalable data pipelines, data warehouses, and cloud-based data platforms
- Define data architecture standards, engineering best practices, and platform reliability requirements
- Build and optimize ETL/ELT workflows across multiple data sources
- Oversee data modeling, data quality, data governance, and reporting infrastructure
- Work with internal teams and stakeholders to understand reporting, analytics, and automation needs
- Support AI, business intelligence, and performance analytics initiatives with clean, reliable data
- Evaluate and implement tools for data ingestion, orchestration, transformation, storage, and visualization
- Manage cloud data infrastructure using platforms such as AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, or Databricks
- Troubleshoot performance issues, pipeline failures, data inconsistencies, and system bottlenecks
- Create documentation for data flows, schemas, processes, and platform decisions
- Mentor engineers and analysts on data engineering standards and best practices
Skills
- 7+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, cloud engineering, BI engineering, or related roles
- Strong experience with SQL and large-scale data systems
- Experience designing and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines
- Experience with data warehouses such as Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, Databricks, or similar platforms
- Experience with Python, PySpark, or another data processing language
- Strong understanding of data modeling, data quality, data governance, and database design
- Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
- Ability to lead technical planning and communicate with both technical and business teams
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in a remote environment
- Experience with orchestration tools such as Airflow, Prefect, Dagster, or similar
- Experience with dbt or modern analytics engineering workflows
- Experience with Tableau, Power BI, Looker, or similar BI tools
- Experience supporting marketing analytics, advertising data, finance data, SaaS metrics, or customer analytics
- Prior experience leading or mentoring a data engineering team
- Experience supporting AI/ML or automation projects through reliable data infrastructure
