Remote Lead VFX Artist - Real-Time Rendering
Our client is seeking a visionary and highly talented Lead VFX Artist to spearhead their real-time rendering efforts within their fully remote operations. You will be responsible for leading a team of VFX artists, defining artistic vision, and ensuring the highest quality of visual effects for interactive and rendered media. Responsibilities: Lead and mentor a remote team of VFX artists, fostering a collaborative and creative environment. Define and maintain the artistic vision and quality bar for visual effects across projects. Develop and implement advanced real-time VFX techniques and workflows using industry-standard software. Create high-quality visual effects, including particle systems, simulations, lighting, and post-processing effects. Collaborate closely with game designers, technical artists, and engineers to integrate VFX seamlessly into the final product. Optimize VFX assets for performance across various platforms while maintaining visual fidelity. Stay ahead of industry trends and emerging technologies in real-time graphics and visual effects. Conduct regular reviews and provide constructive feedback to the VFX team. Develop and document best practices and pipelines for VFX creation and integration. Troubleshoot technical issues related to VFX implementation and performance. Contribute to the artistic direction and overall aesthetic of the project. Manage project timelines and resource allocation for the VFX team. Qualifications: 10+ years of experience in visual effects (VFX) or game development, with at least 3 years in a lead artist or supervisory role. Proven expertise in real-time VFX creation using engines like Unreal Engine or Unity. Strong proficiency in relevant software such as Maya, 3ds Max, Houdini, Substance Painter, Photoshop, and scripting languages (e.g., Python). Demonstrated ability to create stunning visual effects across a wide range of styles. Excellent understanding of art fundamentals, including color theory, composition, and anatomy. Experience with shader development and material creation for real-time rendering. Solid understanding of performance optimization techniques for real-time graphics. Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage and inspire a remote team effectively. A strong portfolio showcasing outstanding real-time VFX work is essential. Experience with physics-based simulations (e.g., fluids, destruction) is a significant plus.
