[Remote] Manager Project Accounting
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Kelso Industries is a company with over 3,500 employees providing HVAC, mechanical, plumbing, refrigeration, and electrical solutions nationwide. The Manager of Project Accounting will oversee financial records for construction projects, ensuring accuracy in reporting and collaboration with project teams to enhance financial visibility.
Responsibilities
- Full ownership of WIP reporting + POC accounting (ASC 606, cost-to-cost)
- Financial health of a live project portfolio (margin, billing, risk visibility)
- Partnership with Project Managers & field teams to ensure accurate forecasting
- Billing lifecycle (AIA - G702/G703, T&M, change orders, AR tracking)
- Audit leadership + surety/bonding support
- Process improvement across systems, workflows, and controls
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 7–12+ years project accounting in construction, mechanical, or specialty trades in contracting
- Deep experience with POC accounting + WIP schedules
- Deep experience with Job cost / cost coding discipline
- Deep experience with AIA billing + subcontract management
- Proficiency with construction management software (e.g. Sage 300 CRE, Viewpoint Vista, Foundation, Spectrum, or similar)
- Advanced Microsoft Excel + financial modeling capability
- Able to partner with field-first, non-financial operators (PMs, supers)
- Experience with NetSuite ERP is strongly preferred
