[Remote] Principal Software Engineer – AI Agents & Enterprise SaaS
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Softworld, a Kelly Company, is seeking an experienced Principal Software Engineer to lead the design, development, and scaling of AI agent systems within its enterprise SaaS platform. This role involves architecting and developing the core AI agent ecosystem, partnering with engineering and product teams to deliver scalable and high-performance solutions that enhance the platform’s AI capabilities.
Responsibilities
- Design and build AI agent frameworks that enable autonomous planning, reasoning, and execution of complex multi-step tasks
- Develop and maintain scalable enterprise SaaS features across the full technology stack
- Implement orchestration layers that allow LLMs and AI agents to interact with APIs, databases, and business systems
- Manage and optimize data pipelines and database interactions that power AI-driven workflows
- Write clean, secure, maintainable code while driving engineering best practices, code reviews, and refactoring initiatives
- Design and implement automated testing frameworks for both traditional software components and non-deterministic AI agent behaviors
- Monitor, evaluate, and improve AI model performance in production environments
Skills
- 10+ years of software engineering experience building large-scale enterprise web applications
- Deep expertise in AI agent architecture, including planning, reasoning loops, tool usage, and autonomous task execution
- Hands-on experience developing production-grade solutions with LLM APIs such as OpenAI, Claude, or similar platforms
- Strong understanding of prompt engineering, context management, model performance optimization, and cost monitoring
- Experience building orchestration frameworks that connect AI models with APIs, databases, and system functions
- Proven ability to design and implement testing strategies for AI-driven and non-deterministic workflows
- 5+ years of backend development experience using Python (Django, Flask) and/or PHP (Symfony, Laravel)
- Advanced SQL and MySQL expertise, including writing and optimizing complex queries for high-volume enterprise datasets
- Strong knowledge of software architecture, design patterns, clean code principles, and engineering best practices
- Experience with model evaluation, experiment tracking, and production monitoring
- Expert-level proficiency with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude, or equivalent platforms
