[Remote] Principal UX Designer

Work from home Full-time role Hiring

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Bluehost is an all-in-one platform dedicated to helping small businesses succeed online. The Principal UX Designer will lead the design of user experiences across various product portfolios, driving UX strategy and mentoring designers to ensure high-quality design execution that meets business objectives and user needs.

Responsibilities

  • Own UX design end-to-end for Bluehost Group portal surfaces including the post-login experiences across multiple digital properties
  • Drive design decisions from customer problem through hi-fi deliverable — including journey mapping, interaction design, and dev-ready handoff with complete specs and annotations
  • Contribute actively to the Bluehost design system — authoring reusable components, interaction patterns, and templates that scale across the portal
  • Partner with PMs to review lo-fi prototypes before hi-fi kickoff, ensuring design work is grounded in customer problems and measurable outcomes
  • Lead design critique and peer review sessions — raising the quality bar across the UX team regardless of surface ownership
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, product, and CX research to deliver experiences that drive activation, engagement, and retention
  • Ensure all designs meet accessibility standards, interaction quality expectations, and design system compliance
  • Actively embed AI tools into your design workflow — using AI for layout ideation, UX copy generation, component suggestions, and competitive research to accelerate speed-to-hi-fi
  • Adopt and champion design-to-code workflows (Claude Design, Figma MCP, Cursor) and share reusable AI-powered patterns and experiments with the broader design team

Skills

  • 10+ years of UX/product design experience, with a strong portfolio demonstrating complex logged-in or SaaS product surfaces
  • Deep expertise in modern design system tooling
  • Strong systems thinker — you design patterns, not just screens
  • Comfortable working in a fast-moving, matrixed organization with multiple stakeholders and concurrent workstreams
  • Experience partnering directly with PMs and engineering in an agile delivery environment
  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills — you can present design decisions to senior leadership clearly and confidently
  • Experience designing for web hosting, CMS, or SMB-facing products is a plus
