[Remote] Staff Software Engineer - 100% Remote - FTE

Optomi, in partnership with a leading pet screening technology company, is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join a high-impact engineering organization. This role involves partnering with product, architecture, and engineering teams to translate business requirements into scalable technical designs while contributing hands-on to development and influencing architecture decisions.
Responsibilities
- Partner with product, architecture, and engineering teams to translate business requirements into technical designs
- Contribute hands-on to application development, system design, and technical delivery
- Lead technical discussions with stakeholders, engineering teams, and leadership
- Help guide architecture decisions across multiple teams or pods
- Build and support scalable, modern applications using AWS, TypeScript/Node.js, PostgreSQL, and microservices
- Own delivery accountability and help drive projects from design through implementation
- Support AI experimentation efforts and help define best practices around AI/LLM engineering where applicable
Skills
- Strong system design and architecture experience in modern software environments
- Hands-on development experience with the ability to contribute directly to coding and technical implementation
- Experience with AWS, TypeScript, Node.js, and PostgreSQL
- Full-stack engineering competency, with a strong backend focus
- Experience designing and building microservices or modern distributed architectures
- Ability to work cross-functionally with product, architecture, engineering, and leadership teams
- Strong communication skills and comfort leading technical conversations
- Self-starter mindset with the ability to operate in a high-ownership, multi-team environment
- Experience with LLMs, AI experimentation, agentic AI concepts, or helping define AI engineering strategy and practices
