Senior Execution Engineer – Crypto Trading : $200-400k+
Our client is a specialist quantitative trading firm preparing to launch a sophisticated mid-frequency crypto trading strategy on Binance perpetual futures markets. With research infrastructure, signal generation, portfolio construction, and market data systems already established, they are now looking for an experienced Senior Execution Engineer to take ownership of the final and most critical component: execution. This is a rare opportunity to join at an early stage and build the execution function from the ground up, directly influencing the firm's path to live trading. The Opportunity As the first dedicated execution engineering hire, you will architect, develop, and manage a production-grade execution platform supporting systematic trading strategies across a broad universe of crypto futures instruments. You'll work alongside a highly experienced research and trading team, helping bridge the gap between strategy development and real-world market deployment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop a robust execution framework for Binance USDT-M perpetual futures markets.
- Build and maintain exchange connectivity using REST and WebSocket APIs.
- Own the full order lifecycle, including order submission, tracking, modification, cancellation, and reconciliation.
- Implement risk controls such as pre-trade validation, monitoring systems, alerting infrastructure, and emergency shutdown mechanisms.
- Develop sophisticated execution algorithms for working large parent orders across 50–100 instruments, with a strong emphasis on passive liquidity provision.
- Create execution analytics and measurement tools, including fill tracking, execution cost analysis, and performance reporting.
- Support and operate live trading systems in a 24/7 environment, handling incidents, root-cause investigations, and platform improvements.
- Partner closely with quantitative researchers to deploy and automate new trading strategies.
- Contribute to the long-term evolution of the trading platform, including expansion to additional exchanges and more advanced execution capabilities.
Required Experience
- At least 3 years of experience building and running production trading systems connected to cryptocurrency exchanges.
- Strong practical knowledge of exchange APIs, including REST and WebSocket architectures.
- Experience handling order state management, position reconciliation, exchange disconnect scenarios, and rate-limit constraints.
- Deep understanding of crypto market microstructure, particularly within Binance Futures markets.
- Familiarity with order types, margin systems, funding mechanics, liquidation processes, and exchange-specific trading constraints.
- Strong Python development skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage trading infrastructure during periods of heightened market volatility.
- Comfortable supporting business-critical systems operating around the clock, including participation in on-call rotations.
- Commitment to high engineering standards, including testing, code reviews, CI/CD, and modern development workflows.
Desirable Skills
- Experience within market making, arbitrage, high-frequency, or other systematic trading environments.
- Understanding of funding-rate and basis-trading strategies.
- Exposure to transaction cost analysis (TCA), fill modelling, queue position estimation, or execution simulation.
- Experience deploying and operating cloud-based infrastructure, particularly within AWS.
