Senior Game Designer - Mobile Entertainment
Our client is a highly successful and innovative mobile game development studio looking for a Senior Game Designer to join their passionate and creative team. This is a fully remote position, offering the flexibility to work from your home office anywhere in the US. You will be instrumental in conceptualizing, designing, and implementing engaging gameplay mechanics, systems, and features for our next generation of mobile entertainment titles. Your expertise will shape the player experience from initial concept to post-launch updates. This role requires a deep understanding of player psychology, game balance, and monetization strategies within the free-to-play mobile market. You will collaborate closely with artists, engineers, producers, and product managers to translate vision into compelling interactive experiences. Responsibilities include creating detailed design documentation, prototyping gameplay loops, conducting playtesting sessions, and iterating on designs based on player feedback and data analysis. The ideal candidate possesses a strong portfolio showcasing successful mobile game designs, exceptional creativity, and a data-driven approach to design. You should be adept at communicating complex design ideas clearly and persuasively to both technical and non-technical team members. A passion for mobile gaming and a proven ability to innovate within the genre are essential. Experience with level design, system design, and narrative design is highly valued. You will play a key role in defining the core player journey and ensuring long-term player engagement. Responsibilities: Conceptualize, design, and document innovative and engaging gameplay mechanics and systems for mobile games. Create detailed Game Design Documents (GDDs), wireframes, and flowcharts to communicate design specifications. Collaborate closely with engineering, art, and production teams throughout the development cycle. Develop and refine core gameplay loops, player progression systems, and meta-game features. Design compelling user interfaces (UI) and user experiences (UX) tailored for mobile platforms. Work with the monetization team to design effective and ethical in-app purchase strategies. Analyze player data and feedback to identify areas for improvement and drive design iterations. Conduct and analyze playtesting sessions to gather insights and validate design decisions. Champion the player experience, ensuring designs are intuitive, fun, and rewarding. Stay current with industry trends, competitor analysis, and emerging technologies in mobile gaming. Mentor junior designers and contribute to the overall design vision of the studio. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Game Design, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience. Minimum of 5 years of professional game design experience, with a strong focus on successful mobile F2P titles. A compelling portfolio showcasing shipped mobile games with detailed explanations of your design contributions. Deep understanding of mobile game genres, player psychology, and monetization best practices. Proficiency in game design documentation, wireframing tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch), and game engines (e.g., Unity, Unreal Engine). Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. Outstanding communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently in a remote environment and collaborate effectively with distributed teams.
