[Remote] Cloud & Platform Engineer L4
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Frontdoor is reimagining how homeowners maintain and repair their most valuable asset – their home. The Cloud & Platform Engineer L4 is responsible for building and operating secure, scalable, and resilient cloud infrastructure, focusing on infrastructure as code, automation, and cloud governance.
Responsibilities
- Build and help scale foundational cloud capabilities across a multi-account AWS environment (e.g., Control Tower, account standardization, governance)
- Design, implement, and maintain cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (primarily Terraform) to ensure consistency and repeatability
- Implement and manage IAM policies, ensuring least-privilege access and alignment with security and compliance standards
- Develop and maintain automation for infrastructure provisioning, configuration, and operational workflows
- Support multi-region resiliency efforts, including high availability, failover design, and system reliability improvements
- Design and implement backup and disaster recovery solutions aligned to RPO/RTO objectives
- Execute disaster recovery processes, including system restoration, validation, and testing
- Troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis, and drive remediation efforts
- Collaborate cross-functionally to improve cloud governance, automation, and operational efficiency
- Maintain observability through monitoring, alerting, and logging tools
- Provide light support for legacy systems and tools (approximately 10–20% of the role)
Skills
- Strong hands-on experience with AWS infrastructure (EC2, VPC, IAM, networking, storage)
- Proven experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform required)
- Experience working in multi-account AWS environments and governance frameworks (e.g., Control Tower)
- Strong understanding of IAM, cloud security principles, and compliance best practices
- Experience designing and supporting backup and disaster recovery strategies (RPO/RTO alignment)
- Solid Linux administration experience (troubleshooting, performance tuning, system lifecycle)
- Experience with scripting (Python, Bash, or similar)
- Understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, routing)
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automation practices
- Experience supporting and troubleshooting production environments
- 5+ years of Linux/system administration or infrastructure experience
- 3–5 years of hands-on cloud experience (AWS preferred)
- Experience with infrastructure automation and scripting
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience
- AWS certifications
- Experience with Ansible or Ansible Tower
- Exposure to backup and security tools (e.g., Rubrik, Orca, Veeam)
- Experience with multi-region architecture and resiliency design
- Background in SRE, DevOps, or software engineering with infrastructure focus
- Experience with monitoring and observability tools
