[Remote] Financial Controller

They are seeking an experienced Controller to oversee accounting operations, manage a small team, and ensure compliance with financial reporting requirements.
Responsibilities
- Own and further develop the structure of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes across multiple entities and locations
- Lead the annual external financial statement audit, serving as the primary liaison with external auditors and coordinating all audit requests, schedules, and deliverables to ensure timely completion
- Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, schedules, and supporting documentation
- Produce accurate and timely consolidated financial statements in accordance with GAAP
- Manage intercompany accounting, eliminations, and multi-entity transactions
- Lead and develop a small accounting team of 2–3 direct reports
- Ensure compliance with state and local reporting requirements, including sales/use tax, property tax, census reporting, and other regulatory filings
- Maintain strong internal controls and accounting processes
- Partner with leadership to support compliance audits, reporting requests, and special projects
- Identify process gaps and implement process improvements that increase efficiency, accuracy, and scalability
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and FP&A activities as needed
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- 8+ years of controllership experience
- Strong GAAP accounting knowledge
- Demonstrated ownership of full-cycle month-end close processes
- Experience preparing consolidated financial statements
- Multi-entity and intercompany accounting experience
- Prior experience managing direct reports within an accounting team
- ERP system experience
- Strong Excel skills and financial analysis capabilities
- CPA designation
- Experience within manufacturing, food & beverage, consumer products, or other multi-location operating environments
- Experience with Microsoft Business Central and/or Microsoft Navision
- Prior responsibility for a full accounting function within a small-to-mid-sized company
- Experience budgeting, cash flow forecasting, and supporting FP&A activities
- Experience leading accounting process improvements and control implementation
- Experience with ERP system enhancements and implementations
