[Remote] Network Security Engineer
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Syntax is a company focused on providing advanced technical support for network security. They are seeking a Senior Network Security Engineer to design, maintain, and optimize global network security systems while enforcing security standards and promoting security awareness across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Provide advanced technical support for designing, maintaining, and optimizing global network security systems
- Create and enforce global network security standards, guidelines, and procedures
- Implement secure network architectures and solutions
- Perform technology and operational risk assessments, identifying control gaps and risky or problematic configurations
- Work with stakeholders to drive remediation of security issues
- Promote security awareness and advise on secure operational practices across IT and the organization
Skills
- Advanced - securing & managing Palo Alto Firewalls & Prisma Access
- Advanced - network security standards, methodologies, and best practices
- Advanced - Understanding of networking protocols, threats, and risks
- Experience and proficiency with network access control concepts & methodologies
- Proven track record operating secure network technologies
- 5+ years experience in network security operations and design
- Must have a security mindset, well versed in general security principles and best practices
- Must have efficient and effective troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work within a team and with limited direction and guidance
- Strong analytical, organizational, troubleshooting and time management skills
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing
- Forescout network access control
- Web Application Firewall (F5 and/or Cloudflare)
- Secure routing & switching
- Scripting, automation & orchestration
- Network authentication methodologies (PSK, certificates, SAML, etc.)
- AWS networking and security
- Professional security certifications are a plus. (CISSP, GIAC, CEH, etc.)
- Technology certifications are also a plus (PCNSA, PCNSE, etc.)
